February 15 is a no-school day in observance of Presidents Day. For all LWSD dates, please review the LWSD 2020-2021 Calendar.

There's also a change to the RMS Bell Schedule for the upcoming week. Please view the RMS Daily Bell Schedule for February 15-19. You can also navigate to https://rms.lwsd.org and click on "Remote Learning Bell Schedule" to view the schedules.

LWSD Open Enrollment

LWSD holds an open enrollment period once each year for parents who want their children to attend a school other than their neighborhood school. Parents may apply between February 1-26 for a change to their school assignment for the 2021-22 school year for their student in grades K-12. This option is also known as an In-District Variance. PTSA Nominations Process Open!

The RMS PTSA Nominating Committee is pleased to open the nominations process for 2021-2022 RMS PTSA Board of Directors! Nominate yourself or others! No experience is necessary and we enthusiastically welcome parents/guardians new to the school or community! We are looking for nominations for the office of:

President  | Treasurer  |  Secretary  |  VP Volunteers  |  VP Communications  | VP FACE  |  VP of Enrichment  |  VP of Fundraising  |  Director of Membership  |  Director of Staff Support

If you or someone you know has a passion for kids and the programs that help them succeed, please consider submitting a nomination. The PTSA Board serves the RMS school community, providing programs, support, and services that might otherwise not be available to the students, families and staff in our area. We believe a great school experience for all students begins with strong partnerships!

If you would like to be a part of this team or know of someone who might want to join us, please fill out the RMS PTSA Nominations Form. A print form is available upon request. Open Mic Night is Here!

RMS PTSA partnered with the The Redmond Academy of Theatre Arts (RATA) to present the virtual Open Mic Night! Several RMS students expressed their inner artist individually and as a group! PTSA General Meeting Recap

Thanks to everyone who joined the online General Meeting Tuesday, February 9! Thank you to the new volunteers who were elected to this year's Nomination Committee! Other highlights included:

• Overview of the student-driven RMS Library Purchasing Committee!
• Math Club has over 72 students participating in math competitions!
• Spelling Bee Finals took place online for the first time! Winner to go to Regionals in March!
• Online game room available after school during breaks!

Rainy Day Dinner Club

The joint RMS and Mann PTSA Enrichment Team will be sponsoring the Rainy Day Dinner Club: March Into Spring Class. Each week results in a dinner to feed a family of 4-6. Cost: $150 for 5 weeks Dates: March 2-31, Tuesdays 3:45-5:15 PM or Wednesdays 3:30-5 PM. For More Information, visit the class details webpage.

A Little "Love" for RMS Staff

In honor of the hard work they've been doing, RMS PTSA put together small Valentine's treat boxes for teachers and staff. They were delivered to the school last week in the hopes that they can be picked up from internal mailboxes over the next few weeks. We LOVE our wonderful staff!

Fence Message: Teachers are Heroes!

The new fence message speaks for itself. "Teachers Are Heroes!" We have incredible teachers at RMS! Take a look at all of the images of changing messages to our wonderful staff by visiting the RMS PTSA Fence Messages webpage. This Valentine's Day, feel free to email your student’s favorite teacher(s) and staff and let them know how much their efforts have made a difference in this strange remote-learning world we live in.

PTAs Across America

Just a reminder to us all, PTAs serve every child across America!  PTAs are serving 13.8 million students in the U.S. PTA Schools Defy Popular Stereotypes 7.8 million (57%) are Students of Color 3.9 million (28%) are Hispanic Students 2.1 million (16%) are Black Students 1.7 million (13%) are Asian/Other Students 5.8 million (43%) are White Students. We urge you to visit the National PTA Presence of PTA site for more interesting data points and infographics.

Deadline Extended to February 14! Do you know a teacher or staff member who deserves a Valentine? We think you do! So this Valentine's Day, for a small donation, we'll put their name and who it's from on our Wall of Love, send them a keepsake postcard, or mail them a heart-filled lapel pin.
